Drowning is the sixth leading cause of unintentional death, with nearly ten people per day dying from drowning. At least two of these ten drownings are children 14 or younger, which make it the second leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 14 years. A good portion of drownings occur due to a lack of supervision.
