Winter is a time when many people dust off their skis and snowboards and head out to the mountains. Skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, ice skating, hockey, and sledding are all popular pastimes during the winter, but each has the potential to result in serious injury. Sports also present unique challenges for plaintiffs trying to recover damages. Sports injuries in which a plaintiff can recover for damages tend to fall into three categories: injuries from defective equipment, unintentional injuries from competitors, and deliberate injuries.
