Generally, when a person is injured on the job, the first thing that they should do is notify their employer of the injury. The employer must then put its workers compensation carrier on notice of the claim. At that point, the workers' compensation carrier will investigate the claim to determine whether it will admit or deny that claim. If the carrier denies the claim, the carrier is under no obligation to begin any compensation under the Workers' Compensation Act.
